Jalen Tate Returns to Give the Norse a Spark. NKU Defeats Northern Illinois 65-62

The end of Non-Conference play has come for the Norse and they closed out this part of the season with a hard fought win over Northern Illinois University who the Norse defeated for the second time this season.

Northern Illinois had star Eugene German back for tonight's matchup, someone the Norse didn't see in their first game earlier in the year. German is a very skilled and accomplished Basketball player who is a career 1000 point scorer and some believe to be the best player in the MAC conference. Northern Kentucky Head Coach John Brannen even said that he believes German will play in the NBA at some point in his career. Although German scored 13 points tonight and had 7 rebounds he shot 6 of 19 from the field, including 1 of 7 from the Three Point Arc.

On the other end, the Norse were not hitting shots at all throughout the game sporting a 30% Field Goal Percentage through the whole game. Norse star Drew McDonald had 15 points and 12 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double despite shooting only 3 of 9 from the field. The Norse got a nice spark in the return of sophmore guard Jalen Tate who gave the Norse 14 points off the bench while gutting through his first game action in a few weeks.

Up next for the Norse, Horizon League play begins as the Norse will host IUPUI at BB&T Arena next Friday the 28th at 7PM Est
