Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, six time All-Star, Pau Gasol has agreed to return to the San Antonio Spurs on a three-year $48 million deal. The deal includes a partial guarantee on the final year.
Not a big surprise here. I don't know how the Spurs are able to get players to buy in year after year.....but they always get their targets for much less than their market value. However, seeing one of the greatest European players ever play out his twilight years with such a fine organization is very fitting.
By declining his 16.2 million option for the 2017-18 season in June, the Spurs were able to complete several other off-season moves, including signing free agents Rudy Gay, Brandon Paul and Joffrey Lauvergne. After Gasol lost his starting job to Dewayne Dedmon, he came away averaging 12.4 ppg and 7.8 rebounds last season.
Pau performed very well as a stretch four coming off the bench for San Antonio and he'll do the same again this season.
