Reaction to "HBO's The Shop"

11:00pm rolls around and its finally here. Drake starts playing over the opening credits, while the names of the stars involved in the episode flash on the screen. The biggest names in sports and entertainment all seem to be involved. Larger than life personalities like LeBron James, Snoop Dogg, John Stewart, Vince Staples, Draymond Green, Odell Beckham Jr, Candace Parker and more.

John Stewart seems to take the natural interviewer role, often prying and attempting to get others to further expand on their conversations. The whole thing seems to flow organically. The conversations seem to be both light hearted and deeply impactful.

LeBron is the natural leader of the show, and talks about adjusting to his white teammates in high school. Questioning whether or not they would still accept him if he wasn’t great at basketball. He also expands on the exact moment he remembers when he decided to be more active in social issues. He says that after having kids, the Travon Martin tragedy changed everything for him.

There seemed to be tons of memorable moments, including Candace Parker talking about how its different being a female athlete and giving up a year of her career to become a mother. Snoop Dogg discusses reinventing himself and Vince Staples has some tough words for what he thinks Trump is attempting to do in America.

The Shop is must see TV, being both entertaining and socially relevant. Everybody can not only enjoy the half hour, but learn and grow from it. What’re you waiting for? Go check it out.
