Xavier shines on Defense; Victorious 64-52

Travis Steele finally leads his team on the court at the Cintas Center for a game..... Well, sort of as the Musketeers battled against the University of Indianapolis for their lone Exhibition game of the season.

The Musketeers had a bit of a shaky first half on offense. Through the half, the team struggled to find a rhythm shooting 2/12 from 3 and 3/9 from the free-throw line. In regards to the free throws, Travis Steele simply said: "it was bad."

In the second half, the team was much better shooting 49% from the field and starting the half on a 10-0 run, taking the lead to nine points with 12 minutes to go into the game including a huge half from senior guard Quentin Goodin. Goodin contributed 12 of his 16 points for the game in the second half and added some plays to his already deep highlight reel from his time at Xavier.

Defensively, X was on the whole day holding Indianapolis to just 17 made field goals on 52 shots. Also, Xavier forced 10 steals as a team which contributed to 11 fast breakpoints.

Up next for Xavier, the season begins on Tuesday, November 5th against Jacksonville. Tip-off is at 7 PM est.
