The Darrin Horn era in Northern KY couldn't be off to a better start. The Norse blew out the UC Clermont Cougars on Tuesday evening at BB&T 105-55. Bryson Langdon lead the way with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Senior, Tyler Sharpe chipped in with 19 points and 5 boards. Noah Pedelty lead the way for the Cougars with 18 points and 6 rebounds.
After raising the 2019 Horizon League Championship banner the Norse got right off to business. The Norse lead 55-30 at the half and it got even uglier for the Cougars in the 2nd half. The rebounding edge was huge from the beginning and the Norse ended up with 54-28 rebounding edge. Silas Adeke got some burn with Drew McDonald exiting last season. In just 12 minutes of play was 6-7 from the field with a career high 13 points and 4 rebounds. Coach Horn said Silas is making progress around the basket and thought his effort was very good (even with a few silly fouls).
Arizona Western transfer, Bryson Langdon scored a team high of 20 points and looked very aggressive. He went 5-7 from the 3 point line and 7-10 overall. Coach Horn sounded optimistic about Langdon and wants him to "continue to play with that kind of freedom if he can continue to take good shots and just takes care of the ball".
Tyler Sharpe said that Coach Horn has had experience under much bigger lights and it was nice to get a victory in the first game of the season. Huge game for a team coming into a transitional season with the loss of possibly their greatest player ever, Drew McDonald and Coach John Brannen.
The Norse travel to Missouri on Friday evening to take on the Tigers at 8:00 p.m. EST.
