One Cumberland is hard enough for a defense to prepare for, but two.... Two may seem impossible when they shoot the way they shot tonight.
Tonight Jarron Cumberland and his cousin Jaevin combined for 28 points on 10/17 from the field and 8/14 from the arch. The Bearcats also got big contributions from transfers Chris McNeal and Chris Vogt each scoring 12 points leading the Bearcats to their first win of the 2019-20 season and the first for John Brannen as the head coach at the University of Cincinnati.
Drake, who returned four starters from last years team that went 24-10 hung around with Cincinnati until the under 12 timeout where Cincinnati went on a 13-0 scoring run over two minutes and another 19-4 run going into the last few minutes of the first half. Bearcats lead 44-25 at the half.
The second half saw more of the same from the home team starting a big run getting their biggest lead up to 27 points before slowing the game down and getting extended looks at players like freshman Zach Harvey and sophmore Mamodou Diarra.
The Bearcats now stand a 1-1, up next a home game later this week at 5/3 arena against Alabama A&M. Last year Alabama A&M had a 5-27 season. They lost their first game two games of this season to Tennessee State and UAB by an average of 31 points. Tip-off is at 7PM EST.
