For the first time in four seasons, the Cincinnati Bearcats have started their season 2-0.
While it wasn't always pretty, the Bearcats stayed strong and willed themselves to victory. Georgia outshot the Bearcats by 8% from the floor and 30% from deep, but the Bearcats still found a way to win the game.
At the 15:33 mark, Georgia got up 11-2 on Cincinnati, later in the half, Georgia had a 19-14 lead before the Bearcats went on a 17-0 run from the 6:41 mark to 3:31 remaining in the first half. The run propelled UC to halftime with a 35-26 lead.
In the second half, the team stepped up on defense really putting forward some intense ball pressure and forcing steals leading to fast break runs, pushing the lead up to as high as 16 points. Point Guards Mika Adams-Woods and Mikey Saunders did an excellent job facilitating for the team with a combined nine assists.
With 5:03 remaining in the game Cincinnati held a 13 point lead but Georgia fought back cutting the deficit to just four points with a little over three minutes remaining. for the remainder of the game, the offenses were a little back and forth scoring-wise but UC never gave up the lead and ended up with the victory.
Wes Miller's era has started 2-0 for the Bearcats and they have a week ahead with 3 games starting Tuesday with Alabama A&M. Tip-off is at 7PM EST and the broadcast will be available on ESPN+
