Cincinnati Bearcats Open the Wes Miller Era with a 65-43 Victory Over Evansville

The Cincinnati Bearcats opened their 122nd regular season on Tuesday night with a huge 65-43 victory against the Evansville Purple Aces at the Fifth Third Arena with new coach in hand, Wes Miller.

With the (almost always expected) first 3 minutes full of game 1 jitters, errors and genuine sloppiness, the Bearcats quickly put together a 12-0 run and never looked back. Leading by as much as 14, Cincinnati shot a respectable 42% from the 3 point stripe lead by Mason Madsen who went 3-5 and ended the half leading all scorers with 9 points. David Dejulius chipped in 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

Things did not get much better for the Purple Aces in the 2nd half. At one point the Bearcats ran the lead up to 22 points. A barrage of 3 pointers buried the other team. Cincinnati's stifling defense held Evansville to just 26% on shooting. David DeJulius lead the way with an impressive 9 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Jeremiah Davenport lead UC with 11 points. Evan Kuhlman of Evansville lead the Purple Aces.

The Bearcats next game takes place back at Fifth Third Arena on Saturday 11/13/21 against the Georgia Bulldogs.
