Meet the Commits: Marquaze Parker & Zay Johnson

By: Ryan Roberts

Throughout the spring and summer, At Large Bid has had several commits on the podcast to discuss their commitments to Cincinnati.

This edition of "Meet the Commits" features 3* West Memphis (AR) defensive lineman Marquaze Parker as well 3* defensive back Zay Johnson out of Clinton, South Carolina.

Johnson held offers from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, and Virginia at the time of his commitment on April 21st.

A long, athletic cornerback that has nicknamed himself "Gravy" , Johnson also stars a track and field athlete, posting times of 11.44 and 11.53 in the 100-meter as a junior. During his Spring session, he posted numbers of 5-4 in the high jump, 20-4 in the long jump, and 43-0 in the triple jump.

Zay joined At Large Bid after his commitment to discuss why the Bearcats felt like home:

3* West Memphis defensive lineman was a bit of an unknown at the time of his commitment with his only other offers being from Memphis, Central Arkansas , Arkansas State, , Arkansas Pine-Bluff, and Southeast Missouri State. His film didn't align with his offer list, however, as he showed great explosion and athleticism off the edge as a guy that could make plays sideline to sideline. 247 sports currently rates him as an 86 and the 13th best player in the state of Arkansas

He spoke with At Large Bid and explained why he chose the Bearcats and why he feels he is underrated and the best player in his state:

Cincinnati currently has the 37th best class in the 2024 class. Stay tuned to 48 minutes network as At Large Bid brings more football content.
