New York City-- Tonight just wasn't Xavier's night. It's as simple as that.
Marquette controlled the game from the jump controlling the pace of the game and running. their offense as well as a team possibly could. The Golden Eagles also continued to be a menace forcing turnovers and getting points off of the turnovers, having the advantage over Xavier 17-7.
At the U12 media timeout in the first half, Marquette led the game by a score of 21-4. No matter what Xavier tried to do, Shaka Smart's team was able to take them out of their game plan.
Big East Player of the Year Tyler Kolek led all scorers with 20 points in the game. Xavier was led by Adam Kunkel with 14 points.
While tonight's loss is definitely a disappointment, Xavier will still be playing next week in the NCAA Tournament. Tomorrow we will find out who and where the Musketeers will be playing.
