New York City-- Tonight was Xavier's most dominant performance of the 2022-23 Big East Season, and what a night to choose to do so.
With outstanding defense and a humming offense, Xavier started to pull away with the win with 6:00 remaining in the first half. The Musketeers received big performances from senior Souley Boum with 23 points, and junior Colby Jones had another fantastic game scoring 14 points and grabbing ten rebounds. Jack Nunge and Desmond Claude scored in double-digits, Nunge with 17, and Claude with 11.
Defensively Xavier held Creighton to just 37.5% shooting as a team for the whole game. The Musketeers forced 13 turnovers and scored 17 points off of turnovers. Also held Creighton's reserves to just three total points. Point guard Ryan Nembhard was held to just five points throughout the game, shooting 2/12 from the floor.
Now Xavier prepares for the final game on their regular season revenge tour, a date with #1-seeded Marquette. Xavier and Marquette split the season series at 1-1, both being very close games with the Golden Eagles taking the last game in a one-point victory. The rubber match for the Big East Title will be tomorrow at 6:30 PM Est.
