In the Big East, nothing comes easy and tonight, Xavier's hard-fought victory on the road over DePaul proved just that.
Although Xavier did get a close victory over DePaul, the Musketeers only had the lead for a total of 2:08. Depaul lead for 35:22 of the game but still weren't able to hold Xavier off from taking the win.
Jack Nunge lead the way for the Musketeers tonight with 23 points including two huge three-pointers towards the end of the game. Nunge was 7/10 from the floor and went 7/8 from the free-throw line including hitting the go-ahead free-throw with 1:15 remaining.
DePaul held their own for the majority of the game, which was impressive considering they were without their Javon Freeman-Liberty for the game. Forward David Jones stepped up big for the Blue Demons with 26 points including five made three-pointers. Brandon Johnson also made his presence felt for DePaul with 13 points and was 3/4 from three-point land.
Xavier hit 5 of their last 7 shots to help lead them to their 14th win of the season, and their fourth Big East victory. Up next for the Musketeers, a Sunday Afternoon trip to Milwaukee to play against the Marquette Golden Eagles. Marquette is coming off a huge win on the road at Villanova. Tip-off will be at 2 PM Eastern.
