Xavier snaps 5 game skid behind Big Game from Nate Johnson 97-75

The Nate Johnson show was in full effect tonight at the Cintas Center as the Xavier Musketeers snag a much-needed victory to end their five-game losing streak.


Johnson scored 25 points on 7/11 from deep as well as four assists, zero fouls, and zero turnovers.


Most importantly, Johnson lead the way as the Xavier offense found its way again when they needed it the most. As a team, Xavier shot 55% from the floor, 56% from deep, and 72% from the stripe. Xavier also managed to have 32 assists on 35 made field goals.



Defensively, Xavier was very solid in the first half, holding Georgetown to 29% from the floor, and just 10% from deep. Though in the second half, the Hoyas were able to execute their offense scoring 45 points and shooting 53% from the field.


With Nate Johnson's big game, Adam Kunkel also managed to have a big game himself, with 12 points shooting 4/8 from deep with eight assists and four rebounds. Colby Jones also had an awesome day for Xavier with 16 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.


In his final game at Cintas Center, Paul Scruggs got a very loud standing ovation during senior day introductions, Scruggs finished the game with 8 points, four rebounds, and four assists.


Xavier finished the regular season with a 19-12 record, 9-11 in the Big East. Xavier opens the Big East tournament on Wednesday at 4:30 PM EST against the Butler Bulldogs. Xavier was able to beat Butler in both matchups this season.
